How to apply
The TIPD scheme is open to teachers in Local Authority schools in England with more than two years teaching experience. A small number of places is also made available each year to teaching assistants.
Teachers (and teaching assistants) have to apply through their Local Authority. Each Local Authority has an allocation of places each year, which depends on the size of the LA. (Large LAs get more places than small LAs.) For information, the allocation to each LA is given here.
Almost all LAs have an officer or adviser who co-ordinates the TIPD scheme for that particular LA. If you do not know who that person is, ask your CPD contact in the LA. Alternatively, send HTI-Merganser an e-mail, and we will let you know. You can then contact them and they will let you know the selection process for your LA.
If you are selected by your LA to take part, then you will be required to complete a form setting out your objectives for the visit. Your application will also need the support of your headteacher.
