The evolving TIPD model

As TIPD has developed over the last eight or nine years, considerable experience has been gained about the best way to ensure that teachers get the most professional gain from it.

The actual international experience is relatively short – usually one week. So the preparation and follow up become increasingly significant. Good preparation ensures that the focus of the visit is fully exploited. Good follow up ensures that the learning is fully contextualised for the teacher themselves, and also that the new experience is widely shared in the school.

Preparation and follow up themselves have evolved as the programme has developed. Considerable attention is now being addressed as to how to offer guidance about the best way to structure this. More information will be given on this site as it becomes available.

We have been overwhelmed by the hospitality, generosity of time and resources, and support that we have been given by fellow professionals, parents and children...  It has made a difference to all of us – changing the mindset of some – for all, improving our practice, undoubtedly.
