Merganser Courses now in Comenius Catalogue

We recently announced that in 2011 Merganser would be offering courses for teachers wishing to improve their English language skills and knowledge of our education system and culture.

Making an impact on teachers and in classrooms

In the last few months over 40 groups have travelled to destinations around the world, including Norway, South Africa, Canada, Uganda, Spain, the Netherlands and India. Groups have overwhelmingly found the visits to have huge impact on their professional development.
Visit Evaluations

Three visits were evaluated by the Merganser consultants during the February session, in Zurich, Salzburg and Leeuwarden. The consultants met with teachers, group leaders and hosts to evaluate the progress of the professional programme. Now is the time for Local Authorities to finalise their applications for the 2010/11 TIPD year which started in April. The dates available for visits will be:
- October 2010
- February 2011

Upcoming Visits during October half-term 2009

HTI Merganser are organising 13 visits for Local Authority groups during this October half-term. 150 teachers, teaching assistants and LA group leaders will be travelling overseas to spend the week focusing on educational themes including Developing the Creative Curriculum, Primary Languages, Gifted and Talented pupils and Transition.
Early Years in Tasmania

In August a group of 10 enthusiastic teachers representing 8 schools from Bristol and Bath and North East Somerset LAs spent a week in Devonport in Tasmania on a TIPD visit focusing on the theme of Early Years Education.
