Bring the world into your classroom
Exciting opportunities for teacher visits to other countries, to learn first hand about education in a different culture.
The Teachers International Professional Development (TIPD) programme enables teachers from England* to visit schools in other countries, for short structured professional experiences. The programme is funded by the UK Department for Children, Schools and Families.
Over the eight years it has been running so far it has enabled many thousand teachers to see for themselves how classrooms operate elsewhere in the world. They have seen many different ways of doing things, and they have been able to review their own teaching in the context of how it works in another country.
If our own children and young people are to benefit from a “world class” education experience then it is vital that teachers understand what this means. The best way, surely, is to see it for yourself. This is what TIPD enables teachers to do.
This website is managed by Merganser Consulting working with HTI Leadership Centre. HTI Leadership Centre is one of four national providers of TIPD. The others are:
- British Council
- CfBT - LECT
- Specialist Schools and Academies Trust (SSAT)
* - Other schemes are available for teachers from Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales.
